Trader Joe’s Special Collector’s Edition

I just picked up one of my favorite food publications. It’s free, comes out just a few times a year and is full of short articles on old favorites and new foods to try. What is it? It’s Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer, a 24-page publication that celebrates some of the 2,000 specially branded and other food products the gourmet food chain has to offer.

Trader Joe’s website says its publication has been described as a “cross between Consumer Reports and Mad Magazine.”

Now, if you love food and cooking and you don’t live near a Trader Joe’s store, you probably feel it is like some exclusive club you can only dream about. If you live within driving distance of one of the gourmet food chains more than 200 stores in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, try to be nice to those who don’t. Trader Joe’s doesn’t do mail order.

The May 2006 issue of Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer is touted as a “special collector’s edition” and features “Trader Joe’s Top 100 Plus 4” of products and is illustrated with some of the company’s favorite Fearless Flyer cartoons from 1967 to 2006.

The Top 104 range from Valencian peach halves in white grape juice to chicken gyoza potstickers (a family favorite), Cuban mojito simmer sauce, Greek yogurt with honey, imported prosciutto, key lime pie and more.

You can view the Fearless Flyer and learn more about Trader Joe’s at its website. There, you’ll also find a store locator, so you find the closest TJ’s (which is what insiders call the chain) to pop in and pick up your own copy of the Fearless Flyer along with your wasabi peas, frozen pizza and fresh mango slices.
