Indianapolis Star Masthead

The Indianapolis Star Living Section reports that Food Network personality Rachael Ray will participate in the parade celebrating the Indy 500 race on Saturday. The 500 Festival, which organizes the race weekend events, confirms that Rachael will actually be the Grand Marshal of that parade.

To commemorate the occasion, the Indianapolis Star’s Jolene Ketzenberger tested five recipes from Rachael Ray’s most recent 30-Minute Meals cookbook: Express Lane Meals. Express Lane Meals is broken down into three sections: (1) Meals for the Exhausted, (2) Meals for the Not Too Tired, and (3) Bring it On! (But Be Gentle). Jolene chose her five test recipes from the Meals for the Exhausted section. She gave each recipe an overall rank and included individual scores for Taste and Preparation.

“All the recipes I tried were strong contenders. While the Spinach-Artichoke Cheesy Tortellini took the checkered flag, the Turkey Burger and the Wafflewiches were surprise second- and third-place finishers. Ray’s classic Leek-y Chicken came in fourth, with Provencal Vegetable Stew a strong fifth. If these five recipes are any indication, the new book’s a winner.”

The article offers all five recipes for your racing, I mean cooking, enjoyment. The article also lists nutritional information, which is not included in the recipes in the book. Whether the addition of nutritional information is a good or bad thing is an question I will leave up to you to answer….
