Time for Giada

Time Magazine recently did an interview with Food Network chef Giada De Laurentiis. It’s interesting to find out how she came to be one of the most popular chefs on television, especially given the fact that she did everything she could to avoid the “family business.”

Her grandfather is the well-respected, Dino De Laurentiis. With both him and her aunt in the business, family members tried to persuade her to join them, but instead she followed her passion all the way to culinary school in Paris. After graduating, she came back to Los Angeles, and landed a dream gig of being a personal chef to actor/director Ron Howard and his family.

Doing food styling on the side for Martha Stewart Living and Food & Wine magazines caught the attention of the Food Network staff and the rest, as they say, is history. She always thought she was “too shy” to be in front of the camera; little did she know fate had already intervened. Complete interview can be read here.
