What They’ll Be Eating at the Emmys
For me, catching up on celeb gossip is right up there with curling up with a new cookbook. If there’s a chance to combine food AND celebrity gossip, I am so there.
In the August 21 issue of TV Guide, they give us the low-down on what our favorite stars will be eating at the Governors Ball on August 27, the official party of the Emmys. With over 2,800 guests, their 525 waiters are definitely needed. The numbers to put on such an event are staggering … 22 bartenders, 8,000 pieces of china, 720 bottles of wine, 750 pounds of jumbo shrimp, 1,500 pounds of avocado, 800 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes, 30 gallons of red-wine sauce, 20 gallons of extra virgin olive oil and more.
The menu? The creation of chef Joachim Splichal of L.A.’s Patina restaurant, he has catered the Governors Ball 11 times already. Additionally, he has been bestowed the honor of Restaurateur of the Year by both Bon Appetit and the Food Network.

Woah! I have a bottle of that 2002 Cab sitting at my house right now! I’m taking it up to a friend’s place for Labor Day (along with a Cuvee M from Mumm Napa Valley, the last of the stuff I brought back from my parents’ place in July)
