The City of London Charity Cookbook
The great and the good of London - read: publicity hungry politicians and ‘never-shy of a name plug’ chefs - have provided a recipe each to the City of London Cookbook. The aim is to raise funds for the Treloars Centenary Appeal.
The Treloar Trust has been running since 1909 and now aims to create facilities to help physically disabled young people develop greater independence, and by offering support to those who are Moving On in their communities.
The cookbook, with contributions from Tony Blair (that’s the Prime Minister), Sir Menzies Campbell (wanna-be Prime Minister) Terence Conran (owns a restaurant and a shop), The Duke of Kent (the one who looks like the last Czar), good ol’ Ken (Mayor of London), Sir John Major (Former Prime Minister) and more is available online from Amazon UK for 8.57.
The BBC has a few details on the 60 recipes - “The prime minister offered instructions for an all-in-one sponge cake, while the London Mayor, Mr. Livingstone, revealed his recipe for roasted new potatoes with thyme. Sir Menzies, the Liberal Democrat leader, gave instructions on how to cook a smoked haddock pie. Conservative leader David Cameron also offered his recipe for a sausage and pasta combination - but the book’s Italian section was already full, so this was not used.”
