Muh-wah-ha-ha-ha! Haunted Hallo-eats.

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I love dressing up. I love the candy. I especially love the spookiness. I even picked up an extra special witches’ hat for this year’s festivities. Now when it comes to parties, creativity is key. You can’t just slap a few pies down and a decorated cookie or two and call that a Halloween party. No way! You need spooky eats and drinks to punctuate your haunted experience. Here are a few great ideas I noticed in the Hartford Courant this week:

Kids Party Drink? Or a More Adult Treat? I have two words for you: Orange Dreamsicle. Ok. So I cannot guarrantee that this will taste like that summer delight, but the recipe in the Hartford Courant this week for an orange smoothie (served in an oh-so-cute orange “cup”) sure sounds like it could provide a delicious attempt. It would be a super cute item to serve at a kids Halloween party too.

Spooky Brews Haunting Hot Chocolate, Orange Ooze…yes, those are the names… If the orange cup isn’t your speed, there are several delicious kid-friendly (with some adult-only twists) drink ideas in this Courant article.

Eyeballs Everywhere Obviously, with all these spooky sippers, you are going to need a kitchy accompaniment. Now what’s better for Halloween than . . . EYES!!! The Hartford Courant has several great ideas for eye-nteresting garnishes . . . Floating eyeballs, anyone? Perhaps I can interest you in some eyeball highballs. Or maybe just a simple marzipan eye! Check it out here.
