Must Have Dinner Dishes

James MArtin's Great British Winter CookbookA throw-away page in the Sunday Times lists the dishes and the books the recipes come from that are now the dishes to serve at all smart dinner parties, from ‘Notting Hill to East Dulwich’.

Roast Pheasant Stuffed With Barley and Golden Sultanas from Feasts by Silvena Rowe [Amazon.co.uk £12]

Chicken Curry from Tom Atkins Cooking by Tom Atkins [Amazon.co.uk £14.85

Red Onion And Creme Fraiche Tarts from James Martin’s Great British Winter Cookbook [Amazon.co.uk £12.79]

Maujadara Hamra (Lentils with Bulgur Wheat) from The Lebanese Cookbook by Hussien Dekmak [Amazon.co.uk £11.21]

Chicken Rolled in Sesame Seeds from Harumi’s Japanese Home Cooking by Harumi Kurihara [Amazon.co.uk £12]

Finocchio al Burro E Parmigiano (Fennel with Butter and Parmesan) from Gennaro’s Italian Year by Gennaro Contaldo [Amazon.co.uk £12 Amazon.com $25.95]

Grapes with Cardamnon and Armagnac from Something For The Weekend by Ruth Watson [Amazon.co.uk £12]

Some of these books have already appeared in several ‘best food books of the year’ type lists; such as the Times Top 10 I wrote about a few days ago. Sad to say I don’t own any of these books - that Christmas wish list is getting long enough to reach way into January!
