Faith - Regarding "growing" into other points of view, I definitely find the magazine helps me do that. There are recipes in Every Day that are not from Rachael, that are more complicated, and that take longer than your average RR recipe, so readers are getting a bit of an eduction. I was inspired to try baking for the first time based on a non-RR recipe for coffee cake in the magazine.

Also, I am that person who used to go to McD's that now makes her own food. It's still a steep learning curve for me, but Rachael's recipes helped me to get over the intimidation factor and start cooking. By doing so, her recipes also got me interested in food in general, which opened up a whole new world of learning.

I have to admit I am a bit of a food media snob and was prepared to really be disdainful of Everyday, but this is really a good, often compelling, practical magazine.

Do they take shortcuts I find unnecessarily and unflavorful (is that a word?) -- yeah, every now and then.

Does the magazine enable and empower thousands who would reach for McDonald's to make their own food, yes.

I hope the magazine's readers "grow" into being more natural and aware cooks and include other food points of view in their cooking media diet.

I have to guess it is food professionals such as Silvana that keep the quality high.
